Gwendolyn Morgan November 4, 1938-April 26, 2019 Westtown, NY
On Friday April 26, 2019, Gwendolyn Morgan answered the call from the Almighty God to enter eternal life.
Gwendolyn Morgan was born on November 4, 1938, in the Parish of Saint Ann, Jamaica, to the late Leon Whorms and Daisy McCarthy. She is the second eldest of twelve children. She received her formal education at Murray Mountain All Age in the Parish of Saint Ann. She then went on to become a self – employed Artisan specializing in making craft bags and hats for the tourism industry.
Gwendolyn migrated to the United States in October, 1995 to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She was a loving and caring mother to nine children. Shortly after relocating to the United States she was briefly employed in the Dietary Department at Southwinds Retirement Home located in Middletown, NY before retiring and caring for her grandchildren.
Gwendolyn had a passion for life. She was an avid foodie, a wonderful cook and loved to feed everyone. Gwendolyn was known for her good deeds always putting others first. Someone extra was always at her home! She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She was a woman of enormous grace, dignity, and wisdom. Her greatest accomplishments in life were her children and her twenty-two grandchildren. She took pride in leading each and every one of them on the right path to ensure they had a strong bond with each other and with God. She, herself was a lover of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a faithful member and servant of the Greater Upperoom Apostolic Faith Church in Middletown, NY. She also served as a faithful and dedicated member of Holy Bethel Pentecostal Church in Bethlehem, PA. She was affectionately known in both churches by all as “Mother Morgan”.
After a brief illness she departed this life peacefully on April 26, 2019 at 11:21pm at Orange Regional Medical Center, Middletown New York. She remained steadfast in her faith believing all would be well. She knew she was in God’s hand and from that she drew great comfort and strength.

Gwendolyn leaves to cherish her memories and continue to celebrate her life, her children; Annette, Maureen, Sharon, O’Niel, Oswald, Carol, Nadine, Christopher, Nicholas and Derrick; her Ex-Husband: Raphael Morgan; 22 Grandchildren: Marcus, Miles, Anasa, Fantasia , Monyelle, Sebastian Jr, Tahj, Tahreek, Kayla, Zöe, Joshuana, Damar, Johnoy, Imani, Ethan, Sarah, Nahla, Christopher, Ayela, Zacori, Zaiden and Jude. She also leaves her Daughters-in-law, Sons-in-Law, Brothers-in-Law, Sisters-in-Law, Brothers, Sisters, Aunt, Nieces, Nephews and a host of Cousins and Friends.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, May 8th at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at 10 am on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Upper Apostolic Church, Linden Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. Burial will follow in Warwick Cemetery, Warwick, NY 10990.
