Among his family, George Valentin passed gracefully and peacefully on January 2, 2019. George was born in New York City and proudly raised in the Bronx by his parents Jorge and Sylvia Valentin with his two predeceased brothers George Michael Valentin and David Valentin. He Graduated from Morris High School in 1962 where he excelled in baseball. George played in state wide leagues and was scouted by the Mets and Pirates, but due to injury he was unable to fulfill his dreams of playing Major League Baseball. He remained a loyal New York Mets fan since their formation. Since the age of 13, George worked a variety of sales positions, but was ultimately drawn to the music distribution industry. His career within this field spanned over 40 years and received several awards and found great satisfaction in his work. He and his Brother David (AKA Dave Valentin) shared a deep love for music. George was extremely proud of his younger brothers success, especially in attaining a Grammy for best Latin Jazz Album. George’s love of music also went beyond sales. In his youth and then later in his life, George sang in many Doo Wop groups. Notable mentions of his singing groups were East Brunswick’s Still Around and The Five Creations of The Hudson Valley. He was a proud member of The Elks and enjoyed golfing, fishing, and his J.E.T.S. JETS JETS JETS. George’s memory will be sustained by a large and beautiful family; His caring and loving wife Ilene, his children Debbie, Yvette and Husband John, George and Wife DeAnne, Jessica and partner Christopher, Steven and Wife Danielle, and Joseph. His life will also be carried with joy by his grandchildren; Troy, Daniel, Kelly, Zachary, Anthony, Kendyle, Natalie, Olivia, Sabrina, Ryan, and David. George was also blessed with three spirited great-grandchildren Troy, Maia, and Miles. The immediate family would like to acknowledge the love and support of his cousins, friends Roseanne and Bill Hubbard, nephew Alec Kotkin, niece Kim Butler, the light of his life great-niece Paisley Grace, and the special bond of his sister and brother-in-law Robin and Larry Kotkin who gave George great comfort. The family would also like to thank the nurses, doctors, and staff at O.R.M.C., Davita Dialysis for the years of care and companionship, Dr. Fioranti for his excellent patient care, finally Hospice of Orange County for allowing George to experience his final days at home in peace.
