Philip Morrissey of Middletown, NY died peacefully after a long illness on January 2, 2019 with his loving family by his side. He was 76 years old.
Philip worked as a Police Officer for the Yonkers Police Department for many years. He retired in 2007 and moved to Middletown where he made numerous friends. He was an avid Yankee fan, and enjoyed cooking and watching old movies in his free time. Each day, he made sure he was available to watch Judge Judy. He loved horses and the track, but above all, he loved his family dearly. He was proud of his traditional values.
Philip is survived by one son, Philip Jr. of Miami, Florida; two daughters: Sandra Slobiski (Andy) of Brick, New Jersey, and Susan Gallagher (Mark) of Middletown, New York; step-son, James Forshaw of Hopewell Junction, New York. He is also survived by four brothers: Richard, Salvatore, Dennis and Jimmy, one sister: Margaret Morrissey, six grandchildren: Allison, Andrew, Jessica, Lauren & Thomas Slobiski and Alexa Morrissey, and step-grandchildren Daniella and Joseph, and many nieces and nephews, including his beloved niece, Theresa, who cared for him lovingly.
He is pre-deceased by his wife, Gertrude; his loving parents, William and Margaret; and two brothers, William and Clinton.
A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Euclid Avenue, Middletown, New York. Burial of cremains will follow in the family plot at New Prospect Cemetery, Pine Bush, New York.
