Kenneth Lawrence Banse, Sr.

Kenneth Lawrence “Tiny” Banse, Sr., loving husband, father and grandfather, died suddenly on April 11, 2018 at Orange Regional Medical Center. He was 76.
The only son of the late Henry and Alice Becker Banse, he was born on May 13, 1941 in New York City, NY. On August 3, 1965, he married Kathryn McIntyre in West Hempstead, NY. He was a graduate of both SUNY Delhi and Cornell University and was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He was a strong German, who was proud of his heritiage. Ken was an avid and well-equipped sportsman and was a member of the Bucktail Hunting Club and Shawangunk Fish and Game Association. He belonged to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Middletown and was currently serving on the Town of Minisink Planning Board. Ken was also a 38 year member and past chief of the Johnson Fire Department and was a member of the Fire Advisory Board. He served as a member of the Unionville Cemetery Commission. Over the years, he was very involoved with and coached youth sports, including Minisink Valley Youth Football and Minisink Valley Little League. Ken was dearly loved by his family and trusted by many friends.
In addition to his loving wife, Kathryn at home; he is survived by his children, Kyle and his wife Kristin of Greenville, and Kevin and his wife Tina of Johnson, NY and daughter-in-law, Susanne Neenan of Port Jervis; and nine grandchildren, Jessica and Danielle Morrone, Kayleigh Banse, Aaron, Jacob and Alex Banse , Kaitlyn, Skyler and Zachary Banse.
He was predeceased by his parents, and one son, Kenneth Banse, Jr.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 am on Friday, April 20, 2018 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 391 Mt. Hope Road, Middletown, NY 10940. Burial will follow in the family plot in Unionville Cemetery at Waterloo, Waterloo Road, Westtown, NY 10998.
