Obituary for Shirley Dorsey
Shirley Dorsey, age 67, of Buffalo died Monday, December 25, 2017 at Buffalo General Hospital of Buffalo, NY. Shirley was born June 18, 1950 in Harlem, NY. She is the daughter of the late Joseph and the late Gladys Speller. She is also the sister of the late Tyrone Speller and Joseph Jr. Speller.

She was employed by United Way, Poughkeepsie, NY as a Clerk. She attended Dutchess Community College. She also attended Krysler Business School; in which she graduated in the early 90’s. Shirley was a member of the Black Panther Party in her early years. Shirley was a loving mother who always put her children first. She loved life. Shirley loved to party and have a good time. She loved to cook. If anyone who has been around her, knew her fried chicken. Shirley was a spiritual woman who loved God more than anything. Shirley was a fighter. She battled with breast cancer two times in the past, but has lost the fight the last time. One quote that Shirley has always said was: “I don’t Know which way it is going to go God; but it will not be with you Satan”

Cremation was private in Buffalo, NY Shirley's ashes will be buried in the family plot in Hillside Cemetery along with her beloved son Ali Kareem Timms in April 2018. Family and friends are invited to share in a Memorial Service on April 7, 2018

She is survived by her daughters; Akeena Jacobs, Alicia Lacey and Atisha Lacey. Her siblings; Clara Speller, Gladys Overton, Linda Maxwell, Micheal Speller, and Jimmy Hertbert. Also, she has a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. A host of cousins. A host of nieces and nephews.

Shirley will be missed!!!!
