Eduardo “Lalo” Santiago, a longtime resident of the area and retired assembly worker, died after a long illness at Park Manor Nursing Facility on December 30th, surrounded by devoted family members. He was 78.
The son of the late Ramon and Ana Ramos Santiago, he was born in Puerto Rico on August 10, 1939.
Lalo was the loving father of four children whose love he shared with their mom, Isabel Santiago and was delighted with the arrival of grandchildren; ten of them, and five great-grandchildren! He cherished them all and was happy to have them in his life.
Eduardo is survived by his beloved children: Aida “Lucy”and her husband, Michael Barber of Middletown, Carmen “Evette” and her husband, Eric Simonson of Lester, MA, Annie Santiago and her partner, Humberto Cortez of Middletown and, Eduardo Jr. and his partner Wanda, of Lester, MA; his grandchildren: Michael, Aida, Maria, Christopher, Tamara, Ryan, Kevin, Amber, Amanda, Eduardo III, Jesse and Jasmine and five great-grandchildren: Alex, Ema, Hennesy, Christopher, his friend and former wife, Isabel; and many family members in Puerto Rico.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Ave., Middletown, NY. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Puerto Rico.
