Michael V. Kowalewski of Middletown, NY passed away on January 16, 2022 at Garnet Health Medical Center at the age of 73.
Michael was the son of the late Mabel E. Becker Monahan and Michael I. Kowalewski and the stepson of Francis H. Monahan.
For 32 years, Mike, aka “Mike the Polack” worked for Ford Motor Company as a foreman, clerk and inventory analyst. He served for four years in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a radio repair technician in the Vietnam War. Known as Mr. K, he coached Girls Softball and Boys Baseball for the Middletown Little League and coached youth bowling at 17-84 Bowl.
Mike was married for 49 years to his late wife and childhood sweetheart, Cathy Jo Keeler Kowalewski.
He is survived by his daughters, Kristi-Jo Procak (Brad) of Check, VA and Heidi-Jo Volpe of Middletown, NY , his son Michael Chad Kowalewski (AnnMarie Weiss) of Montgomery, NY, his brother Anthony D. “Jud” Kowalewski (Harue) of Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren, Kayla Renee Volpe, Taryn Ciera Volpe, Morgan Taylor Volpe, Kyle Thomas Kowalewski, Jenna Elizabeth Volpe, Karah-Jo Procak and Khloe April Procak; one great grandchild Dalilah Catherine Grillo, his sisters-in-law, Liz “Sweetie” Coleman of Omaha, NE, Dorothy Price of Montgomery, NY, Madeline Kozireski of Trinity, FL and Janet Mahoney of Nixa, MO as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Dona K. Perna.
A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate Michael's life on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 from 12:00Pm to 2:00Pm at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home 130 Highland Ave Middletown NY
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00Pm at the funeral home, Pastor Jeffrey Farley Presiding.
