Obituary for Juanita Valentin
Juanita Valentin, our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, died on December 22, 2020 at Garnet Medical Center in Middletown. She was 81.
Juanita was born on June 23, 1939 in Mayaquez ,Puerto Rico. The daughter of the late Lupercio Serrano and Maria Rivera Serrano. She was married to her late husband, Adrian Valentin for 60 years. She was a devoted mother to her five children, and served as a foster mother to 25 children. Juanita had a heart of gold and loved to help anyone that needed help. She worked as a teacher's aide for the Middletown school district where she retired. She loved children and always enjoyed being with her large family. She loved traveling with her sister Carmen to warmer climates.
She is survived by her children; Adrian Jr. (Rosenmarie) of Town of Wallkill, Eric (Julie) of the Town of Wallkill, Richard (Lisa) from the state of Florida, Walter (Angie) of the Town of Wallkill, Janette Giovannelli (Alberto) from the state of Florida, and Charles Mitchell. Her siblings, Robert and Alcides Serrano, Carmen Serrano Valentin.
14 Grandchildren - Alexis, Erika (Andrew Ames), Tiffany (Dave Medress), Richard (Natalie), Eric (Christine, Stephen (Sara), Brianna, Angela (Armondo Ortiz), Melanie, Walter, Adrienne, Joseph, Alberto Jr., Maria
15 Great Grandchildren - Avery, Abigail, Adleigh, Adriana, Andrew II, Olivia, Vera, Emilia, Elena, Stephen, Lilliana, Dominik, Alexander, Luciano, Mariella.
She also leaves behind her beloved pet Ava.
Juanita was predeceased by her siblings, Nelson, Jose, Doris, Isabel and Sandra Serrano and a grandson Juliano Giovannelli.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her name to St. Jude Children Hospital, or Pets alive. Due to the current pandemic, visitation will be private with family only. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Wednesday at St. Joseph's Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY 10940. Burial will be private in the family plot.
