LETITIA HOLZAPFEL

March 14, 1942 - January 14, 2011

Middletown, NY

Letitia J. Holzapfel of Middletown NY entered into rest on Friday, January 14, 2011. She was 68.

Letitia was born in the Bronx, on March 14, 1942, the eighth child to the late Daniel and Josephine Henry. Shortly following her graduation from St. Helena High School, she married her sweetheart, Hugo J. Holzapfel, with whom she shared her life and love for 49 years. Together they raised five adoring children, two sons and three daughters. Letitia touched the lives of many and was loved by all who knew her. Her life’s passion was her family; especially her 11 grandchildren, whose lives were enriched by her example of selflessness and unconditional love and who were entertained by her sharp wit and indelible sense of humor.

She was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Middletown.

Survivors include her husband, Hugo J. Holzapfel, her children: Joseph Holzapfel and his wife, Lenora of Rock Hill, Catherine Dana and her husband, Robert of Pine Bush, Virginia Garrison and her fiancé, Chad Mead of Bloomingburg, Lisa Grabowski and her husband, Jason of Middletown, and Eric Holzapfel of Pine Bush; her 11 grandchildren: Erin, Jeffrey, Joseph, Amber, Kurtis, Robert, Tyler Korie, Rebecca, Jack, and Henry. Letitia is also survived by her siblings, Mary Gennaro, Daniel Henry, Louis Henry and Catherine Walsh, numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family.

She was predeceased by her siblings: Robert Henry, Joseph Henry, and Julia Winterroth.

Visitation hours will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, January 19 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 20 at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, 149 Cottage St., Middletown, NY. Burial will follow in the family plot in Scotchtown Cemetery in Middletown.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home.
