Elsie Marie Klein, a lifetime Middletown resident, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family in Rock Hill, NY. She was 90.
The daughter of the late George and Madeline E. Dow German, she was born on November 15, 1922 in Middletown. She attended Middletown schools and was a member of the first class to graduate from the new High School on Grand Avenue and Wisner Avenues. And was a faithful and devoted member of St, John’s Lutheran Church.. She married Herbert A. Klein, who predeceased her on April 21, 1994. Elsie worked as a seamstress for Calvert Coat in Middletown for many years.
Elsie is fondly remembered by her family as a loving and giving mother, mother-in-law and grandma. She would do anything to make you smile and was always able to motivate others to be the best they could be.
She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert, sons Herbert Klein, Jr and Dennis Klein and her brother, George.
Elsie is survived by her daughter in law Brenda Klein of Saugerties; granddaughter, Denise and her husband Mark Thompson; great-grandchildren, Alex Soto, Marques, Markell, Markus and David Klein-Thompson all of Rock Hill, NY and many dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 19, 2013 from 10 to 11 am at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 am at the funeral home, Pastor Peter Rustico of St. John’s Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will follow in the family plot in Wallkill Cemetery in Middletown, NY 10940.Arrangements are under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. www.applebee-mcphillips.com
