Fritzie Johanna Weinert, a 35 year resident of Wurtsboro, died suddenly on Tuesday, August 27th at Orange Regional Medical Center. She was 79.
The daughter of the late Magda and William Gerders, she was born on December 27, 1933 in the Bronx, NY. Fritzie worked as a Nurse Administrator for the Middletown Psychiatric Center. She was a member of the Mamakating Seniors and a parishioner at St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Wurtsboro.
She loved to travel with her Seniors group, enjoyed family functions and was an avid Yankee fan. Fritzie was an independent woman who was very proud of her role as a nurse. She was always happy to share her medical knowledge with others, especially when she visited physicians.
Fritzie is survived by her son, Frederick Weinert of Otisville; her daughters: Suzanne Weinert-Korycki and her husband, Ronald of New Hampton, and her daughter, Jeanette Weinert-Smith and her husband, David of San Jose, CA. She is also survived by her former husband and longtime friend, Alfred Weinert of Otisville, as well as many friends. She was predeceased by her stepfather, Karl Strobach.
Visitation hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3rd at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 4th at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Sullivan Street, Wurtsboro, NY 12790.
