Zoraida Powell of Middletown NY, died on Thursday March 25 at North East Center For Special Care Lake Katrine, NY. She was 42.
The daughter of Jose and Rosa Sanabria Santiago, she was born on September 10, 1967 in Norwalk, CT. She worked in supply and trade for Hess Corporation in New York City. Zoraida moved to the Middletown area 14 years ago from Rockland County with her husband, Al.
She was the heart and soul of her family. Zoraida always tried to solve everyone's problems. She commuted to work on Metro North and was very well known on the train. She loved to travel, especially with her family and loved riding her Suzuki 600.
In addition to her husband Alfred and parents, she is survived by her daughter Danielle, and three sons, Justin, Bryan and Brandon; three brothers, Ramon of FL, Juan of NJ, and Junito of RI; and two sisters, Carmine Rodriguez and her husband Raffael of FL and Esther Santiago of RI; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one daughter, Jasmine Powell in 1998.
Visitation hours will be from 9:30 to 11 am on Friday, April 2, 2010 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service in Remembrance will be held at 11 am on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the family plot in Wallkill Cemetery, Midway Road, Middletown, NY 10940.
