Yvette Denise Blanche Dimofski Maniguet, a resident of Middletown, NY since 1959, entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 26, 2016 at home, at the age of 90.
Yvette was the daughter of Anne-Louise Hennequin and Jean-George Dimofski, born January 31, 1926 in Sarrguemines, France.
Yvette started her teaching career in France prior to her marriage to Leon Maniguet in 1948. Yvette, Leon, and son Luc came to the United States in January of 1959. After her second son Michel started school, Yvette returned to teaching at St. Joseph School, Middletown retiring after twenty years. Yvette was much beloved by her students. She initially taught third grade, but especially loved teaching her little first graders.
Yvette touched the lives of her students and many dear friends, with her sweet kindness. Many of her former student’s years later as adults endearingly confided to her that they considered her their favorite teacher.
Yvette was predeceased by her loving husband Leon Joseph Maniguet. Together they shared 65 wonderful years of marriage. She was the loving mother of two sons and their families who survive her, Luc and his wife Jarna Randall Maniguet of Pine Bush, NY and Michel and his wife Stacy Homer Maniguet of Denton, TX. She was the beloved grandmother of four grandchildren, Jacques Maniguet of St. Louis, MO, Elise Jordan and her husband Steven Jordan, of San Diego, CA, Gerritt Maniguet of Texas, and Danielle Maniguet of Oklahoma. She is further survived by her brother Jean Dimofski and his wife Michelle, her sister Sonia Vincent, sister-in-law Marthe Dimofski, and several nieces and nephews all in France. The eldest of three siblings, Yvette was predeceased by her brother Gilbert Dimofski.
In addition to being a caring teacher, Yvette was a fantastic cook and an exceptional hostess, loving to entertain her family and friends. Devoted to her faith Yvette was a long time member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Middletown, and together with Leon, they were participants in Perpetual Adoration for a number of years. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court Rosemary for 20 years.
