William V. Baisley

William V. Baisley, a lifetime Rockland County resident, died following a long illness at Campbell Hall Rehabilitaion and health Care Center. He was 97.
The son of the late William and Dorthea Haines Baisley, he was born on November 13, 1917 in Garnerville, NY. He served proudly as a Merchant Marine. He married Vivian Alzdorf on February 4, 1939 in Garnerville, NY. She who predeceased him in April of 1987. William was an independent man who loved to travel and did, all over Europe, Hawaii and Alaska. He was proud of his Indian heritage. He enjoyed his grandchildren, dogs, playing cards, dinners with family and friends and the occasional whiskey sour. He was also a founding member of the ambulance corps in Stony Point.
William is survived by his son, William J. Baisley and his wife Karenof Sparks, NV and Robert Baisley and his wife Meg Ann of Middletown, four beloved grandchildren, Tina and her husband Ramon, Steven, Joseph and Melanie and her husband David; and great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Alyssa and Aidan.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 And 7 to 9 pm on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at 10 am on Thursday, December 18th at the funeral home, Pastor Charles Ryu will officiate. Burial will follow in the family plot in Mt. Repose Cemetery, Haverstraw, NY. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc.
