William “Bill” Morris, local ambassador and lifetime Middletown resident, died unexpectedly on May 1, 2019 at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. He was 72.
The son of the late William Morris and Marion Losardo, he was born on July 29, 1946 in Middletown, NY. Bill was a graduate of Middletown High School Class of 1964 and worked as an independent contractor. He was a longtime member of St. Joseph’s Church in Middletown. Bill was extremely generous, caring and compassionate. Bill was a professional ball buster, who had a great sense of humor. He loved to laugh and spend time with people. He was an expert on all things mechanical, and shared his knowledge with anyone who could benefit from it. He loved being with the kids, boating, and watching the birds. Bill enjoyed being around people and spent every Thursday night playing poker with his friends. His warm presence will be missed by many, some who may only know him by his welcome smile.
He is survived by his loving wife Patricia at home; son William Morris and daughters, Jessica Welsh and her husband Thomas of Wurtsboro and Kimberly Cronin and her husband Sean of Binghamton; as well as a sister, Sandra Gabriel of Laguna Beach, CA and his beloved grandchildren, Jacqueline and Alyssa and a nephew Richard.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 pm on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 am on Monday, May 6, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY 10940.
