William Gilmore,., a longtime Middletown resident, died on June 20, 2013 at Middletown Park Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. He was 71.
The son of the late William Patrick Gilmore and Mary Lawroski Gilmore, he was born on December 21, 1941 in Brooklyn, NY. William married Patricia McGroarty in 1964 in Brooklyn. He worked for the Transit Authority in Manhattan and the Bronx as a busdriver for 25 years. He and Pat moved their family to the Middletown area 39 years ago. After his retorement from MTA, William worked for the Washingtonville School District as a bus driver. He enjoyed his job and always loved to entertain his friends and family with his many bus driver stories. He had a great sense of humor and was always good for a laugh.
In addition to his loving wife Pat at home, he is survived by his sons; William and Michael Gilmore of Middletown and daughter Nancy Sozio and her husband Frank of Milton; sister Mary Elizabeth Kidd and her husband Ron of New Paltz and two grandchildren, Victoria and Amanda, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; sister Patricia and her husband Michael Pangia; brother Joseph Gilmore; sister in law Peggy Healy and her husband Tom; sister-in-law Mary McGroarty and brother and sister in law Jack and Nancy McGroarty.
Cremation was private.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 90 Euclid Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940.
