WILLIAM D. BROCKETT

William Brockett died on March 1, 2018 at Montgomery Nursing Home surrounded by his family. He was 86.
The son of the late Charles and Alice Moore Brockett, he was born in Middletown.
Bill graduated from Otisville High School in 1950. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War.
Bill married Dolores "Champie" Stanfield in 1956 at Holy Name Church in Otisville. He worked for A & P Supermarkets for 47 years and was a sixty-year member of Ontario Hose Co. #5 in Middletown.
Bill loved deer, dogs and the Dodgers. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a 65 year member and past president of the Otisville Sportsmen's Association. Bill was active in the community, volunteering for many events including the Otisville Country Fair. He played in many local sports leagues and later was a longtime sports official. Bill refereed college and high school soccer and umpired college and high school baseball and softball for many years. He also officiated recreational basketball, softball and youth baseball. Bill was the recipient of many awards for his officiating including: the Neil Turfler Award; the Chris Chachiss Award (twice); the John E. Bell Lifetime Achievement Award; and the Amateur Softball Association Silver Clicker Award. He was an honorary member of the Slate Hill Pacers.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Champie, and his three sons: Steve and his wife, Doreen, of Middletown; Brian and his wife Tammy, of Otisville; and Randy and his wife, Sheri of Howells. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren: Megan, Billy and Kasey. Bill is also survived by his in-laws, James "Kayo" and Nancy Stanfield, Maureen Stanfield, Frank and Mary Stanfield, and Cathy and Bernie Lipsky; niece, Terry Tyoe and great-nephew, McLean Tyoe of Herkimer, NY; several nieces and nephews; step-grandchildren, Brice and Megan Smith and step-great-grandchildren, Jaylin Jones and Gage Smith.
In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his brother, George and sister-in-law, Denise and his father and mother-in-law, James and Mary Stanfield.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6th at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Ave., Middletown, NY. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 7th at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Orange County Veterans Cemetery in Goshen, NY.
The Brockett family deeply thanks Hand in Hand Adult Care in Middletown and Montgomery Nursing Home for the love and care they provided to Bill.
