William “Poppy” Decker Sr.

William “Poppy” Decker Sr., a lifetime area resident, died on November 27, 2012 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 64.
The son of the late Thomas Bert Decker and Gladys Lampson Decker, one of 11 children, he was born on September 14, 1948 in the Town of Crawford. He married Margaret Ruth Fairweather on August 3, 1968. Bill worked for Elant at Goshen as a corporate painter, he enjoyed his job and his co-workers.
Bill was adored by his family, he was the best husband, father and grandfather. He was a great friend to everyone, and he was loved by everyone. He loved to dance and was always the life of the party. He had a wonderful spirit and sense of humor. Bill never complained about anything. He was “Poppy” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and they brought out the very best in him. He loved to entertain them in every way and they also called him the “Toothmonster” because of one of his favorite tricks. He will be sadly missed by all of his family and his many friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44years, Margaret at home; son Bill Jr. and his wife Hope of Westtown; daughters, Lisa Marcinak and her husband Art of Montgomery, and Donna Lane and her husband Jason of Pine Bush; 11 grandchildren, A.J., Billy, Andy, Brandon, Nicole, Michelle, Jason, Angela, Kevin, Katelyn and David; 2 great-grandchidlren, McKinley and Hunter.
He was predeceased by his son, Thomas.
Visitation hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday December 1, 2012 at 10 am . Burial will follow in Wallkill Cemetery, Midway Road, Middletown, NY 10940.
