April 27, 1942 - May 17, 2014
Wayne D. Pillius a lifetime area resident, died on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Orange Regional Medical Center surrounded by family and friends. He was 72.
The son of the late John Joseph and Estella Pillius, Wayne was born on April 27, 1942 in Walden. He worked as a mechanic his entire life and loved being able to fix things for everyone. He enjoyed his job of maintenance mechanic at Arden Hill Hospital until his retirement.
Wayne was generous, kind hearted and compassionate. He would do anything thing for anybody. Wayne was the neighborhood caretaker and kept everything in good working order. He could always be counted on by his family and friends. He spent many late hours making sure they had what he felt they needed. He was a faithful and loyal husband and doting father and grandfather. Wayne was also an animal lover and went to great legnths to take care of his pets, especially his chocolate lab, Buddy, who already dearly misses him. He was a NASCAR fan and an avid NY Giants fan.
In addition to his loving wife Jennette, he is survived by his children: Jodie Pillius-MacKrell and her husband, Eric of Wurtsboro and Doug Perrone and his wife, Diana of Pine Bush; sister, Barbara Arlotta of Middletown; brother, John J. Pillius and his wife, Hazel of Missouri and William Pillius and his wife Carole of New Paltz, NY; and three grandchildren: Daisha Gady, Danicka Perrone and Dominick "Bubba" Perrone of Pine Bush; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, and three brothers: Daniel, Clifford and Jerry Pillius.
According to his wishes, cremation will be private. Visitation hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21st at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Celebration of Wayne’s Life will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
