Son of the late Walter and Olive Cordier Lowerre, Richard was born June 27, 1936 in the town of Wallkill, NY.
He served in the US Naval Reserve from 1953 to 1961as an electronic tech. He was employed at Orange & Rockland Utilities for 38 years where he was Manager of Materials and Stores. He was a fifty year member of the Circleville Fire Company, having served in several offices including President. He was a life member of the Elks 1097 Middletown and a member of the O&R retirees association.
In his younger years, he was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying trout fishing, hunting, boating, water skiing and snowmobiling with close friends and family.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife Carrie Lindsay-Lowerre, his sister Patricia Lambach, his step-sons Trey with wife Yris and grandchildren J.P. and Samantha, as well as Jonathan with wife Hannah and grandchildren Juliet and Patrick. Richard is also survived by his goddaughters Vivian Piper and June Horton, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as extended members of the McGowan family.
He was pre-deceased by his first wife of 39 years, Patricia McGowan Lowerre and his sister Barbara Piper of Wurtsboro, NY.
Visitation hours are from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at 10 am at the Community Church of Wurtsboro on Monday, December 5th, burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Middletown, NY.
