Walter Ptak of Middletown NY passed awaypeacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, October 6, 2011 inMiddletown, NY. He was 90.
The son of the late Anthony and JennieReiss Ptak, he was born on March 3, 1921 in Bridgeport, CT. He served proudlyin the United States Air Force/Air Offensive Europe 63rd fighter squadron from1941-1945 and received Honorable Discharge at rank of Staff Sergeant. Waltermarried Loretta Weiss on October 11, 1947. They would have celebrated their64th anniversary. He was employed by NYS Dept. of Transportation. He was amember of the BPOE Elks 1097.
Survivors include his loving wife,Loretta; daughter, Patricia and her husband, Felice La Manna of Homasassa, FL;sons: Robert and his wife, Mary of Marlboro, MA, Raymond and his wife, Peggy ofMiddletown, William and his wife, Anita of Tampa, FL; a sister, Dr. Helen Ptakof Middletown; sisters-in law, Frances and Suzanne Ptak. He is also survived byten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Walter was predeceased by ason, Walter J. in 1970 and his brothers, Leonard and Henry.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 9 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Ave.,Middletown. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church onMonday, October 10 at 11 a.m. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Goshen,NY.
