Obituary for W. Norton Madigan
W. Norton Madigan, a  lifetime resident of Middletown, died Monday, January 30, 2012 at Orange Regional Medical Center. He was 89 years old.
Norton was born in Middletown on July 26, 1922 to the late William and Margaret Carney Madigan.
He married the love of his life Clara Stadlinger in 1961 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. They just celebrated 50 years of marriage this past July.
Norton was a very active member of the community,  serving as a Past President of the Middletown Lions Club, Past Grand Knight of the Middletown Knights of Columbus- 4th Degree, Past President of the Orange Co. Golf Club. He was also a  member of the Middletown Elks 1097, member of the Professional Fireman's Association, and an over 60 years member of the American Legion and the McQuiod Engine & Ladder Company since 1941.
He is survived by his loving wife Clara, at home, Â his God daughter Kelly Wolslayer-Rosenbloom and her brother Rick Wolslayer. He was predeceased by his sister Margaret.
Visitation hours are 4-8 PM Thursday, February 2, at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Ave. Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:15 a.m. on Friday, February 3, at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church,  90 Euclid Ave, Middletown. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home.
Visitation hours are 4-8 Pm Thurs., Feb. 2, at the funeral home.
