Obituary for Virginia Mielski
Virginia A. Mielski, a longtime area resident, succumbed to Covid-19 Sunday, May 3, 2020 after surviving all other odds against her. We were blessed to have her in our lives for 96 years.
The daughter of the late Louis J. and Agnes Kelley Senneville, she was born on January 30, 1924 in Manchester, N.H. Ginny was a graduate of the Middletown High School class of 1942.
She went on to marry John A. Mielski, of Florida NY, the love of her life. They shared many happy years together. “Gram and Poppa” spent most weekends road tripping to see fall foliage or the countryside while stopping at every local diner along the way.
Virginia was a long-standing member of Webb Horton Memorial Presbyterian Church in Middletown where she was proud to serve as a deacon. A lifelong career woman, Virginia worked for many years as a bookkeeper and secretary for Bellows and May as well as for H.L. Ayers in Middletown, NY.
Practical by nature, Ginny enjoyed planning and organizing her home. We will always remember Gram’s extensive “home labeling” system and we still love finding one of her notes attached to cherished treasures she passed down to us. We will also hold on to the memory of her straight forward and no-nonsense demeanor. Not one to mince words, we loved it when Gram would give us her honest opinions on every topic of our lives in “plain English,” as she would say.
After her well-earned retirement, Ginny devoted her life to caring for John in his long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was predeceased by John in 2003, as well as her brother, Donald in 2010.
Virginia is survived by her daughter, Patricia Savarese (Ralph) of Middletown; five granddaughters and one grandson, several great and great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will take place at Wallkill Cemetery on Friday, May 8, 2020.
Virginia’s family would like to thank the staff of Glen Arden as well as Tori Edwards, her caregiver and guardian angel, for the excellent care she received in her last years.
In recognition of her love for animals, memorial contributions in Virginia's name may be made to the Middletown Humane Society.
