Victoria Mercado, 88, passed away on January 25, 2014 at Elant in Goshen, NY. She was born on March 29th, 1925 in Santurce, Puerto Rico to Felix and Aurea Santiago.
Victoria moved to New York in 1941 and worked in Manhattan for 30 years at the President Novelty Company as a senior sales associate.
She enjoyed reading, going for walks and spending time with family and friends. She had been the last surviving sibling of nine children.
Victoria is survived by her loving son, Richard and his wife, Elba of Parrish, FL and granddaughter, Christine McKelvey and her husband, Wade of Lakewood Ranch, FL.
The family is forever grateful to the staff at Elant Nursing Home for the thoughtful and professional care that they gave her.
Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, January 29th at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc,, 130 Highland Ave., Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 30th at St. Paul’s R.C. Church, Rt 17K, Bullville, NY 10915.
