Victor Paul Villegas, a lifetime Middletown resident, died on Monday January 18 at the James A. Peters Medical Center in the Bronx. He was 59.
The son of Virginia Tietjen and Fernando Villegas, Sr., he was born on February 4, 1950 in Middletown. Victor graduated from St. Joseph’s Parochial School in 1964 and from MHS in 1968. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served in Charlie Company 1/93rd Marine Division at the DMZ. He was a correction officer for the NYS Dept. of Corrections in Otisville, retiring in 1989. He was a member of St. Joseph's R.C. Church, the Middletown B.P.O.E #1097, the American Legion Post 151, the Shawangunk Fish and Game Club and was a life member of the D.A.V. and V.F.W.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving wife, Donna, whom he married on April 19, 1985. He is also survived by his sons, Sgt. Mark Guglielmetti and his wife Denisa of Bamberg, Germany; and Scott of Brandon, Fl; one daughter, Mary Guglielmetti-Trautlein and her husband Chris of Middletown; one brother Fernando Villegas, Jr and his wife Cheryl; three grandchildren, Xavier Trautlein PFC, Mark Guglielmetti, Jr., and Josephine Guglielmetti,
several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Friday, January 22, 2010 at St. Joseph's Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Middletown.
