Vassiliki “Kiki” Dedes died on Friday, January 23, 2015 at Orange Regional Medical Center after a long battle with cancer. Family at her side. She was 77.
The daughter of the late Panagiotis and Konstadina Babaletakis, she born on March 24, 1937, in Mystras, Greece. Vassiliki was the widow of Vassilios “William” Dedes, who passed away on June 12, 1977.
Vassiliki was a former seamstress at the Calvert Coat Factory in Middletown and a former restaurant owner of “Bill’s and Kiki’s Place” in Newburgh.
She was an active member of her church, Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church in Middletown, always helping during festivals and bake sales.
Survivors include her children: Angelos Dedes of Bronx, Anna Maria Vakirtzis of Slate Hill, Panagiotis “Pete” Dedes and his wife Margarita of Middletown, and Joanne Giganti and her husband, Frank of Yankton, SD; her grandchildren: William, John, Gina, and Christina Dedes, Vicki and Katerina Vakirtzis, Vassilios Dedes, and Joseph Giganti; her great-grandchildren: Luke and William Dedes; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was also predeceased by her sister Georgia Knight and her brother John Babaletakis.
Visitation 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Trisagion Service will be held at 7:30 pm on Wednesday evening at the funeral home, Fr. Chris Talleos will officiate. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 am on Thursday at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, 2250 Goshen Turnpike, Middletown, NY 10941. Burial will follow in the family plot in Wallkill Cemetery, 160 Midway Road, Middletown, NY 10940.
