Umberto Napoletano, beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather, died on January 21, 2019. He was 88 years old.
One of 14 children born to Donato Napoletano and Angela Barbieri, Umberto was born on April 26, 1930 in Monopoli, Bari, Italy. He married Rosa Moliterno on January 7, 1956 in Italy and they came to the United States shortly after they married. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Middletown. Umberto was a talented and detail oriented painting contractor. He began his own business, Albert Napoletano Painting, in 1959. He took pride in his work and retired at the age of 78. He was a dedicated husband and father who was very proud of his family and all of their accomplishments. He loved nothing more than being with his entire family, especially for Sunday dinners.
Umberto is survived by his loving wife Rosa at home and his children; Dr. Donato Napoletano and his wife Raffaela of Middletown, Angela Lumbrazo and her husband Kenneth of Westtown and Lisa M. Napoletano, Esq. of Middletown and her fiancé, Thomas DiLillo. He is also survived by his sister Lucia Napoletano Giannuzzi of Italy and five grandchildren, Umberto, Sergio and Donato Alesanro Napoletano and Kenneth Lumbrazo, Jr and Umberto Lumbrazo as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Friday, January 25, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY 10940. Entombment will follow in the Queen of Peace Mausoleum at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Middletown, NY.
Memorial contributions in Umberto’s name may be made to either St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY 10940 or St. Jude’s Children’s research Hosptial, 262 Danny Thomas Way, Memphis, TN 31805.
