Thomas Robert Purvis Jr “T.P.” of Bloomingburg NY, formerly of Spring Valley,NY, entered into eternal rest on January 29th, 2015 at home after his 15 year battle with cancer. He was 78 years old.
The son of Thomas Robert Purvis Sr. and Mary Romanski-Purvis was born on March 12, 1936 In Spring Valley NY. Thomas graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1953 and enlisted into the United State Marine Corps. Thomas fought in the Korean Conflict in 1954 and represented his Semper fi proudly. Thomas was retired from both the United States Marines and Teamsters Local 445.
Thomas is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 54 years, Dorothy; his two loving daughters, Dorothy Dorn and her husband John of Bloomingburg NY and Christine Wanamaker of Port Jervis, NY. Thomas is also survived by his siblings; two brothers James Purvis and his wife Jeanine of Pearl River NY, and John Purvis of Wilmington, NC; three sisters, Theresa Purvis of MI, Catherine Sweredik and her husband John of Palm Beach, FL and Jeanne Purvis of MI; and five grandchildren; Christina Cintron and her fiancé Ryan Roberts of Port Jervis, NY, Diana Delvecchio and her husband Antonio of Valdosta, GA, Lisa Dorn and her fiancé Christopher Scott of Chester, NY, Gina Fouvy and her husband Mark Fouvy of Glenham, NY, and Deana Wanamaker of Port Jervis, NY. Thomas is also survived by 6 amazing great grandchildren; Alysia and Julianna Roberts, Antonio Delvecchio Jr., John and Angelece Delvecchio, Cameron Scott, and Robert Fouvy, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Thomas was a caring, and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He enjoyed the outdoors greatly, deep sea fishing, great love for animals, working driving dump trucks and always finding new projects to fix and improve around the house. He also was a member of American Legion Post #488 Monroe NY, American Legion Post #329 Pearl River NY and The Middletown Elks Club.
Visitation hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Applebee McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, February 4 at the funeral home, burial with Military honors will follow in the family plot.
Arrangements are under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc.
Visitation hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Applebee McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, February 4 at the funeral home, burial with Military honors will follow in the family plot.
