Thomas Richard Monteforte, a retired Lieutenant for the NYS Police Troop F in Middletown, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 28 at Orange Regional Medical Center. He was 77.
The son of the late George and Mildred Monteforte, he was born on June 26, 1935 in Bronx, NY. He married Patricia Marie Morrissey 53 years ago in Forestburgh, NY. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1953 to 56 and later served as a NYS Trooper for 31 years, worked on the B.C.I. Unit and was an O.C.C.B. agent.
Thomas was loved and respected by all who knew him for the man he was. He was patient, had a great sense of humor and was generous to a fault.
He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Samuel Monteforte. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; brother, William Monteforte and his wife, Margaret; sister, Rosalie Monteforte; nieces: Denise Stephens, Georgina Lankford, Terri Robinson, Mary Snow and nephews: Michael Monteforte, Ralph Monteforte, George Monteforte, John Snow, Jamie Snow and Michael Monteforte, Jr. and Darnell Monteforte and a very big extended family.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 31 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Ave., Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 1 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 90 Euclid Ave., Middletown. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Middletown.
