Obituary for Thomas Meyer Miller
Thomas Meyer Miller
March 11, 1966-November 12, 2016
Montgomery, NY
Thomas Meyer Miller, 50, of Montgomery, NY, husband of Elizabeth (Mills) Miller, passed away suddenly early Saturday morning, November 12th, 2016.

Tom was born March 11, 1966 in Buffalo, NY, son of William C. Miller and Lynda (Frost) Miller of Ellington, CT (formerly of Middletown, NY) and grew up in Somers, NY prior to moving to Orange County twenty seven years ago. He was a 1989 graduate of Widener University earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. While at Widener he was a member of the Widener Football Team where he continued his love of the game as a star high school linebacker and fullback. Upon graduation, Tom fortuitously moved to Orange County to start his career where he met the love of his life, Beth Mills. Tom earned his Professional Engineer (PE) License and devoted twenty-two years to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, Division of Air Resources as a Senior Environmental Engineer.

Besides his wife of twenty three years, he is survived by his daughter Shannon K. Miller of Morgantown, WV and son Bradley N. Miller a Mechanical Engineering student at West Virginia University, Morgantown, WV; a sister and brother, Michelle (Miller) Bedson and her husband David of Ellington, CT and their children, Michael, Elizabeth and Catherine, and William B. Miller of Alexandria, VA; His Father in Law Howard D. Mills Jr. and Mother in Law Patricia (Fortune) of Scotchtown, NY., his Brother in Law Howard D. Mills III and his wife Erin(Rice) of Goshen, NY and their three children Jack, Cooper and Kathryn, his Brother in law Todd H. Mills his wife Linda (Dilorio) of Middletown, NY and their son Luke.

He was a longtime resident of Montgomery and an active member of the community participating in all aspects of his children’s lives. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed pursuing his lifelong passion of golf. As a member of the Orange County Golf Club he was the 2002 Club Player of the Year – and he always looked forward to playing the annual Member Guest Tournament with his father. He especially enjoyed playing regularly at Stony Ford Golf Club with his buddies George Buermeyer and Sean McDonald. More importantly, he shared his passion with his son Brad, who will continue to pursue his love of the game.

Our hearts are broken. Tom never met a stranger and was loved by all. He had a larger than life personality and loved being with his family and friends. Everyone was welcome in their happy home.

Visitation will take place from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, November 17 at Scotchtown Presbyterian Church, Blumel Road, Middletown, NY. Pastor Bob Anderle will officiate. Cremation will be private.

Memorial contributions in the memory of Tom may be made to St. Judes Childrens Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Way, Memphis, TN 38105.
