THOMAS MIEDEMA, JR.
March 18, 1933 - April 2, 2011

Thomas "Bud" Miedema, Jr., passed away at home on April 2, 2011. He was 78 years old. Bud was born in Midland Park, NJ, March 18, 1933, to the late Thomas and Minnie Telgen Miedema.
When he was 14 years old, Bud moved with his family to a farm in Slate Hill, which is now the site of Catlin Gardens. In 1950, he moved to Mount Hope, where he milked cows and raised beef cattle until his retirement.
He was a member of the Otisville - Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Janet A. Oosting Miedema; four sons: James and his wife, Barbara, Michael and his wife, Brenda, Thomas III and his wife, Marie, and Joe and his wife, Ceann; two daughters, Linda Buckbee and her husband, Wisner and Janet Antona and her husband, Thomas. Pop is also survived by his 33 grandchildren: James Jr. (Rebecca), Paul (Melissa), Jaclyn Chase (Nick), Susan Kennedy (Tom), Jennifer Christiansen (Brian), Kevin, Robert, Jason, Dawn Vlietstra (Jim), Shanna Bosch (Greg), Michael (Michelle), Megan Ribello (Pete), Sara Brooks (Michael), Cerissa, Evan, Darren, Brendan, Gwynneth, Brigitte, Charity, Hannah, William, Faith, Hope, Rebecca, Amanda, Katey Jackson (Jeff), Tyler, Corinne, Seth, Kimberly, Justin and Krista; as well as 17 great-grandchildren, and two sisters-in-law, Wilma Miedema and Janet DeBoer Miedema. He was predeceased by his brothers: William and Everett.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 4, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at the Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Ave., Middletown. The Funeral will take place at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 5, at the Otisville – Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church. Rev. Jeff Farley will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Otisville - Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church or World Vision.
