Thomas J. Savona, a longtime area resident passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, May 28, 2007at O.R.M.C. Horton Campus. He was 72 years old.
The son of the late Gaetano and Hazel Savona, Tom was born March 31, 1935 in New York, New York. Tom married Helen McGee on April 3, 1954 in New York,City. He was a founding member of the Town of Wallkill Little League. Tom worked as an Electronic Instrument Repairman for the U.S. Airforce in Niagra Falls, NY and retired from the Airforce in 1956.
A family statement reads, “Tom was an avid reader whose favorite subjects ranged from science fiction to economics. He especially enjoyed technology and keeping up with the most current innovations. He will be sadly missed by his entire family, above all by his devoted wife, Helen.”
Tom is survived by his wife, Helen, at home; son Thomas and his wife, Jeanne, of Montgomery; daughter Teresa Henry of Dover, NH; four grandchildren Tracy Henry of Albany, Stephen Henry, and Dylan Henry, both of Dover, NH,Mark Sheldon and his wife, Sheryl, of Cincinnati, OH and great grandson Cameron Sheldon Tom is also survived by his mother-in-law Anna McGee of Campbell Hall; sister Patricia Kerin of Massepequa; dedicated sisters-in-law Anne Reilly, Kathleen Regan, Rose Pogozelski; brother-in-law John McGee; and 27 nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, May 30 from 6 to 8 pm at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown. A Funeral Service of Remembrance will take place at 8pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
Cremation will be private and at the convenience of the family.
