Thomas J. Keating, Jr, a retired Police Detective for City of Middletown Police Department, died unexpectedly on Monday, August 8, 2011 at his home in Unionville. He was 56.
The son of Mary C. Dolan Keating and the late Thomas J. Keating, Sr., he was born on July 12, 1955 in the Bronx. Tom moved to the area in 1980 from Pearl River. He worked for both Letchworth Village in Rockland County in Public Safety and Walden Police Dept. He was a member of the City of Middletown Police Dept. for 26 years, retiring as Detective. Tom twas an accredited field training officer and was also a member of the tactical team. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Middletown and the Middletown B.P.O.E. 1097. Tom will be remembered as the consummate story teller, he reminisced on tales of the past leaving smiles on our faces and cheer in our hearts.
In addition to his mother, Maryof Ausable Fork, he is survived by his wife Marie Margaret at home;
his only daughter, Christin Lynne of Blooming Grove, one stepdaughter, Amber Lauria, TN; sister, Patricia Barone of Tuxedo, NY; brother, Terence of Fletcher, VT; granddaughter Adrianna; and five nieces Sara, Erin, Rebekah, Lauren, and Rachael.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 11 from 7 to 9 and Friday, August 12, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 90 Euclid Ave, Middletown, NY. Burial will follow in Manning Cemetery, Mountain Rd, Greenville Rd, NY. Arrangements under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc.
