Obituary for Thomas J. Crummenauer
Thomas J. Crummenauer, a longtime area resident, died Friday, March 9, 2007 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 74 years old.
The son of the late William and Margaret Loehning Crummenauer, he was born June 2, 1932 in New York, NY. A Veteran of the Korean War, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
A family statement reads, “Tom loved going to Foxwoods to play Bingo, and going on Cruises. He enjoyed being around people. He was amazed and thrilled with his beautiful grandchildren and great grandchildren. His most wonderful qualities came out in them.”
Thomas is survived by his beloved wife, Mary, at home; three children Thomas and his wife, Margaret, of Howells, Michael and his wife, Iris, of Elmira, Charleen Thompson and her companion Dave Wiegle of Middletown; seven grandchildren Thomas, Kelly, Erin, Michael, Alena, Joshua, Arron; three great grandchildren Katelyn, Riley, Brogan; and one sister, Barbara.
He was predeceased by his sister, Charlotte Mello.
Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, March 11, from 7 to 9 pm and on Monday, March 12, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 13 at 9:30 am at St. Joseph’s RC Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Thomas’ name may be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
