Middletown, NY

Sylvia M. Brenner, a homemaker and longtime area resident died peacefeully on Feb. 9, 2006 at her home with her family by her side. She was 71 years old.

The daughter of the late Arthur and Dora Vanvorst Smith, Sylvia was born on June 18, 1934 in Rivervale, NJ.

In 1953, Sylvia married Wilbur Brenner in Emerson, NJ and lived in Paramus, NJ for 22 years before moving to Middletown in 1976. Sylvia enjoyed dancing, playing golf and together with her husband, was a member of Howell’s Church. A family statement reads:” Her doors were always open to whomever needed her”

Besides her husband Will at home, Sylvia is survived by seven children, Wilbur Brenner and his wife Wendy of Lord’s Valley, PA, Bruce Brenner and his wife Deborah of Middletown, Dean Brenner of Middletown, Kenneth Brenner and his companion Rose of Monticello, Craig Brenner and his wife Michelle of Plymouth, MA, Linda Morris and her husband Bernie of Montgomery and Michael brenner and his wife Dawn of New Jersey; two brothers, Arthur Smith of Totowa, NJ and Kevin Smith and his wife Elizabeth of Chicago, two sisters, Shirley Smith of Paramus, NJ and Denise Uber and her husband Sam of Sandy Lake, PA; her daughter-in-law Mary Brenner, 16 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit on Sunday, February 12, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown. A Funeral Service of Remembrance will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Feb. 13, 10am with Pastor Steve Offringa officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ.
