Susie Lorita (Cota) LeMieux died peacefully Saturday, December 18, 2010, at home surrounded by family. Mrs. LeMieux was born in Greenfield, Mass. on February 3, 1929. She was the daughter of Vivian Carpenter Cota and Dorothy Gordon Cota of Northfield, Mass. As a young person, she was an active member of the Millers Falls Fife and Drum Corps where she played the drums. She graduated from Northfield High School in 1946 and shortly thereafter, in 1949, became a career army wife, marring Frederick G. LeMieux. Their son Jon F. LeMieux was born in 1952 in Greenfield, Mass. After residing in Kansas and Virginia, they settled in Middletown, NY where their daughter, Dorian LeMieux was born in 1958.

Mrs. LeMieux was always a fan and supporter of the arts and music, and had a love for animals. She had an inquisitive mind and was always seeking to learn new and interesting things. Laughter was her best friend.

She was predeceased by her husband Frederick in 2007.

She is survived by her son, Jon and his wife Linda; granddaughters Rae and Sara; her daughter, Dorian and her husband Michael and his son Michael V; her sister Alice Hynes of Williamstown, MA. As well as several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 23 from 9-10AM at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. 130 Highland Ave. Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service of Remembrance will follow at the funeral home at 10AM Thursday. She will be buried beside her husband in Orange County Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Craigville Rd. Goshen, NY.
