July 30, 1950 - April 16, 2018

Stephen Joy, a retired Vietnam Vet, died after a long illness at home on April 16, 2018. He was 67 years old. Born in Manhattan, he was the oldest of seven children born on July 30, 1950 to William and Alta Halstead Joy.
He was raised in Bloomingburg, graduated from Pine Bush High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1969. Stephen served three tours in Viet Nam and was awarded a purple heart for injuries suffered in combat. While he was permanently disabled after his service, He never lost his sense of humor, his warm concern for others and his avid support of the New York Yankees and Mets teams.
He is survived by his lifelong friends; Eva, Debbie and Billy; his brothers; Richmond and his wife Rosemary and Michael Joy, all of Bloomingburg. He is also survived by four nephews and five great nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, April 23, 2018 at the Orange County Veterans Cemetery, 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, New York at 1 p.m. with Military Honors.
