Obituary for Stephen Devine
Stephen Devine of Bloomingburg, died on Thursday April 13 at O.R.M.C. Horton Campus Middletown, NY. He was 53.

The son of the late Raymond and Patricia Clark Devine he was born on May 13, 1952 in Manhattan, NY. Mr. Devine married Paula Cottiers on November 7, 1987 at Calvary Assemby Of God Church in Chester, NY.

He worked in the waste industry for over 18 years, most recently at Interstate Waste Services in Sloatsburg, NY. Stephen was a member and former Trustee of the Community United Methodist Church of Bloomingburg.

A family statement reads:

“Stephen had immeasurable strength throughout his illness. He was a loving, devoted and incredible husband and father who told his family he loved them everyday. The most important thing to him was to be able to work and provide for his family and he never let them down. He will always be with us and we will use his strength to keep us going. He also was a strong,, loving, devoted brother to his siblings. He was a good friend and true gentleman”.

He is survived by his loving bride, Paula, sons Joshua and Nicholas and daughter, Ashley, all at home; one brother, Edward and his wife Donna of New Jersey; sisters, Ellen Ventura and her husband Patrick of Toms River, NJ; Dorthea Devine of Fla; and Patricia MacKenzie and her husband Jeffrey of Indiana; nieces and nephews Keri Anne, Lauren, Matthew, Thomas, Victoria, Samantha, Phillip, Jeremy and Jason; his very close mother-in-law, Irene Cottiers of Wurtsboro; sisters-in-law, Melanie Schnickler and her husband Carl of Walden and Michelle DeLillo and her husband Roger of Walden; and many friends.

He was predeceased by one son, Anthony Phillip, both of his parents and father-in-law, Phillip Cottiers. Friends may call on Monday, April 17, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A funeral service will be held at the Community United Methodist Church of Bloomingburg on Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at 11am mass will be held Burial will be in Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery, Bloomingburg, NY.
