Stanley Samuel Sherman, Sr.
1942 - 2022
Stanley Sherman, a lifetime resident of Middletown, peacefully passed away at his home on Saturday, February 19, 2022.
Stanley was born on June 17, 1942 in Middletown to Henry and Pearl Sherman. He was one of seven children.
Stan proudly served his Country in the US Army and fought in Vietnam during the war.
He cherished his 30-year racing career and all the people who helped him make that happen and be successful. In 2019 he was inducted into the Historic Racing Community Hall of Fame.
He was an outdoorsman who loved to fish, hunt, ski and golf. He enjoyed the beauty of our world and was fortunate to visit Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, Caribbean, Grand Canyon and many other places.
He was a carpenter by trade, but was also an auto mechanic, electrician, plumber, fabricator, musician, seamstress, cook and could build and fix anything. He was a true perfectionist and very generous with his knowledge as he taught his loved ones everything he had learned in life.
Stan was an amazing man who had such a loving heart and so many good friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Debbie: his Sons, Stanley Jr. (Aimee), Mark, Richard Sr. (Danielle): his Grandchildren, Ashley (Matt), Brittney (Amanda), Tyler (finance Mikayla), Richard Jr. and Camryn: Great Grandchildren, David and Jacob: Brothers Willard and Carl, as well as many nieces, nephews and in-laws. Stan was predeceased by his Parents: Sisters Henrietta and MaryAnna: Brothers: Glenn and Roger.
He was most proud of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Anyone who knew Stan will never be the same without him in their life but will always cherish how many wonderful memories he left us with. And how many jokes he could tell off the top of his head.
Stan was known as “Stan The Man, The Legend”. He will be tremendously missed by his loving family.
Funeral Services will be held at Applebee-McPhillips, 130 Highland Ave., Middletown, on Sunday, February 27th from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at the American Legion Post 151, Wawayanda Ave., Middletown.
