Stanley J. Mazurkiewicz of Scotchtown, formerly of Chester and Ozone Park, joined Our Lord on Thursday following a lengthy illness. The only child of Stanislaus and Apolonia (Kowalski) Mazurkiewicz, he was born at his family's home in Brooklyn. He graduated from Alexander Hamilton Vocational High School, and then enlisted in the Army, where he served for six years. Following his military service, he had a lengthy career as an electrician with I.B.E.W. Local 3, Flushing, Queens.
Stanley is survived by his heartbroken wife Victoria (Lokitis) Mazurkiewicz, whom he wed on April 28, 1962. Also surviving are his three loving daughters: Josephine Pagan and husband, Markham of Middletown, Christine Werder and husband, Timothy of Walker Valley, and Victoria Brush and husband, Charles of Wurtsboro; and grandchildren Timothy and Shane Werder of Walker Valley, and Andrew and Christopher Brush of Wurtsboro. He is also survived by cousins and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Stanley was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who cherished his family, and was always there to offer his support to all. He opened his home to his extended family when things were tough, and was always there to give a helping hand as a true family man. His favorite activities included hunting, camping and golfing.
Visitation hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Monday, August 22, at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Ave., Middletown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, August 23 at St Paul's Catholic Church, 2800 State Route 17K, Bullville. Burial will follow at Orange County's Veterans’ Memorial Cemetary, Goshen.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made in Stanley's name to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association.
