Stacey Chase VanDerMeulen of Chester NY, died on Sunday October 17 at the Kaplan Family Residence in Newburgh, following a short illness. She was 47.
Stacey was born on March 31, 1963 in Deluth, MN to Sandra Lewis Chase and the late Robert Chase. Stacey graduated with a degree in Business and Accounting from Mankato State University. She worked as comptroller at the Mankato Free Press for years prior to being promoted to Corporate Headquarters for Ottaway Newspapers, Inc. She was most recently Financial Director for Dow Jones Local Media Group after a 25 year career. In February of 1999, she married Matthew K. VanDermeulen in Chester, NY. Stacey was a member of Grace Community Church in Washingtonville, NY.
Stacey was adored by her entire extended family. She will be fondly remembered by all of her many friends and family for her zest for life and spontaneous laughter.
In addition to her loving husband Matt, she is survived by her beloved son, Austin, at home; her mother, Sandra Lewis Chase of Baxter, MN; mother and father-in-law Fred and Joan VanDermeulen of Chester; brother, Ronald Chase of Baxter, MN; two sisters, Sheri Axtell and her husband Brian of Pearland, TX, and Suzanne Krueger and her husband Mark of Lakeville, MN;
brothers-in-law Todd and his wife Sandra Marciano of Chester, and Jeff and his wife Teri of Cleveland, OH, and her sister-in-law Dawn Oaks and her husband Gary of Corinth, KY. She is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews, Vanessa, Briana, and Derrick Axtel; Joseph and Christopher Chase; Danielle Krueger; Richard and Adison Marciano,; Rucia, Michaela, Zechariah and Joshua Oaks and Brandon and Kristyn VanDermeulen; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation hours for Stacey will be held on Friday, October 22, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Celebration of her Life will be held at 11 am on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church in Chester, NY. Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope.
