Newburgh, NY
Shirley Adah Lisi, a longtime resident of Newburgh, died Tuesday, March 27 surrounded by her lovingfamily at Orange Regional MedicalCenter. She was 93.
One of fourteen children born to the lateWilliam and Katherine Boyle McPhillips, Shirley was born in Montgomery on July 17, 1918. She married thelove of her life, Joseph Lisi in Newburgh at Sacred Heart Church on October 15,1939 and together they raised their family until his death in 1969.
Shirley's life was her family; she loveddoting on her two grandsons. She was a great fan of the New York Yankees andpolitics. Her friends will miss talking to her. All who know her will miss her loving ways.
The Lisi family wishes to personally thank the staff at Valley View Nursing Home for their loving and compassionate care while Shirley was a resident, especially the nurses and staff on Couser Building B-100 unit. The family also wishes to acknowledge the professionalismand availability of the physicians at Crystal Run Healthcare, especially Dr.Osman and Dr. Quilatan in her final days. We cannot say enough about the quality of care provided by the nursing staff at Orange Regional Medical Center,especially those on 2 South. The empathy and comfort provided to the family greatly eased our pain during this difficult time, we will never forget that.
Shirley is survived by her son, Paul andhis wife, Barbara of Newburgh, and daughter, Barbara Pavlovic and her husband,Robert of Concord, CA; her grandchildren, Benjamin Pavlovic and his fiancée,Nicole Duhoski of Chicago, and Joseph Lisi and his fiancée, Traci Foster of Ithaca. She waspredeceased by her parents, husband and thirteen of her brothers and sisters.
Visitation hours will be Thursday, March29, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home., Inc. 130 HighlandAve., Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at10:30 a.m., Friday, March 30, at SacredHeart Church,301 Ann St. Newburgh, NY 12550. Burial will follow in thefamily plot in CalvaryCemetery, New Windsor.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Shirley’sname may be made to St. Jude's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis,TN. 38105 or to the American Cancer Society.
