Seymour “Butch” Gardner Healy of Vilas, NC, formerly of Middletown, died Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Watauga Medical Center in Boone, NC. He was 81 years old.
Seymour was born in Middletown to the late Russel Seymour and Elsie Gardner Healy on July 18, 1932. He married Martha Webber on April 18, 1954 in Middletown. Butch served 33 years in the Army National Guard, retiring as a Staff Sergeant. He was a past member of Circleville Fire Dept. and a member of the NYS Fire Warden Association which led his children and grandchildren to follow in his footsteps serving in the Washington Heights Fire Dept.
Butch had a big family and they always came first. He would do anything for family. He liked to play lincoln logs with his grandchildren and pretend that it was his own log cabin. He enjoyed spending time with his children going hunting and fishing. In his spare time, he liked to read books while having a cocktail. He his memory and legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of his family forever.
Seymour is survived by his loving wife, Martha, at home; sons Daniel & his wife Karen of Slate Hill, Bruce, Stephen, Charles and his fiancee Lisa and Gordon and his fiancee Lynn, all of Middletown; daughters Donna of Middletown and Carol of NC; brothers George & his wife Margaret and Robert of NC; twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his grandson, Robbie and his favorite pet, his dog, Gizmo.
Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Sunday, August 4, at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. 130 Highland Ave. Middletown, NY 10940 . A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 5, at 11 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Circleville Cemetery in the family plot.
