Samuel Moretzsky of Middletown NY, died on Wednesday March 31 at Sloan Kettering in New York, NY following a long battle with cancer. He was 75.
The son of the late William and Selma Moretzsky, he was born in Brooklyn on June 10, 1934. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and owned and operated clothing factories in New Jersey.
A resident of the Middletown area for six years, Sam enjoyed playing in his band, Sam's Little Big Band. He was a kind and happy man who loved people, especially his family. Next to his wife of 17 years, music was his biggest love.
He is survived by his wife Patricia at home; one son, M. Evan and his wife Michele of Randolph, NJ; daughter Lara Bednarczyk and her husband Eric of Little Egg Harbor, NJ, Michele Hennessy and husband Jerry, East Stroudsburg, PA; brother Aaron and his wife Harriet; Rohna Redan and her husband Joe of FL; and six grandchildren, Beth, Ross, Sarah, Ryan, Adam, and Shawn.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 2 from 12 to 1 pm at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, April 2, 2010 at 1:15 pm at Temple Sinai Cemetery in Circleville, Rabbi Schwab will officiate. The family will sit Shiva on Sunday, April 4, 2010 from 12 to 4 pm at their residence.
