Samuel E. Mitchell Jr.

Samuel " Sam " E. Mitchell, Jr. died Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at Kingston Hospital after a long illness. He was 60 years old.

The son of Eugenia Wiecek Mitchell and the late Samuel E . Mitchell, he was born in Middletown on November 23, 1949. He married Linda Stanganelli on March 29, 1994, Linda predeceased Sam last year.

Sam is survived by his son Sam of Kentucky and daughter Alyxandra Mitchell and her fiancé, Sean Sevin of West Shokan, his twin brother Joseph A. Mitchell and his wife Mitzi of Coryton, Tenn. sisters Jane Sinsabaugh and her husband Ted of New Hampton, Barbara Kwiecinski, and her husband Chuck of Johnson, NY and a granddaughter Victoria Grace of Kentucky.

He belonged to the MHS class of ’68 and after graduation enlisted in the Navy. Sam had a great personality and could make friends wherever he went. Even during his illness, he endeared himself to the medical staff at the hospital. The family is grateful for the care and attention Sam received at Kingston Hospital.

Visitation hours will be from 1 to 4 pm today, Saturday, June 5th at Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, Inc, 411 Albany Avenue in Kingston, NY 12401. A Memorial Service will follow at 4 pm Saturday afternoon in Kingston.

Visitation will be held Sunday June 6, from 2 to 3 pm at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home 130 Highland Ave. Middletown, NY 10940. A Memorial service with Military honors will follow at 3 pm at the funeral home in Middletown on Sunday afternoon. Burial of his ashes will take place at a later date beside his beloved wife Linda, in St Mary’s Cemetery in Kingston, NY.

Memorial contributions may be made for the Mitchell Children’s Education, c/o Barbara Kwiecinski, PO Box 558 Johnson, NY, 10933.
