Obituary for Ruth C. Vaughan
Major Ruth C. Vaughan was promoted to Glory on March 22, 2021, She was 92.
The daughter of the late Major Peter Courage and Major Ethel Ann Fink, Ruth was born to serve on January 23, 1929 in Elizabeth, NJ. She grew up as a part of the Salvation Army, which is where she met her husband, Robert. They were married on June 12, 1948. Ruth was a WWII Navy bride, prior to spending several years as a medical secretary. In 1957, Ruth and husband Robert committed to full-time ministry in The Salvation Army. They were ordained in 1959 and spent the next 34 years serving others in His name. Ruth and Robert retired to the Poconos in 1993 and moved back with family to Westtown in 2006.
When Robert predeceased her in 2019, they had shared 71 years of marriage and ministry together.
Ruth is survived by her children, Peter Courage Vaughan and his wife Lorinda of Westtown and Robert Vaughan Jr and his wife Moira of Darango, CO and her grandchildren, Jeffrey and his wife Stephanie, Jeremy, Loreita and his wife Nate, Lorissa and her husband Felix and Peter Vaughan II and great-grandchildren, Kylie, Judah, Jackson, and August and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation was private and burial of both Ruth and Robert's ashes will take place in the Salvation Army section at Kensico Cemetery on April 12, 2021.
