Obituary for Ruth Ann Donovan
Ruth Ann Donovan
Middletown, New York
October 28, 1944-February 8, 2019
Ruth Ann Donovan, a longtime resident of the area, died after a long illness on Friday, February 8, 2019 at The Willows in Suffern, New York. She was 74 years old.
The daughter of Edward and Agnes Lucke Wilson, she was born in Calicoon, New York on October 28, 1944.
Ruth Ann graduated from Eldred High School and received her B.A. degree from Molloy College. She pursued her career briefly, but later realized her true passion was being a loving wife, mom and grandmother.
She was spiritual and loving, determined and courageous and throughout her medical treatments, always had a positive and “can do” attitude.
Ruth Ann was a scout leader, a volunteer for Senior Ministries and dedicated Blessed Sacrament Guardian at St. Joseph’s Church.
She married Michael Donovan on August 16, 1969 and they shared 49 years of marriage together. He often credited her with saving his life after suffering a heart attack and two strokes.
We would be remiss if we didn’t add her grandchildren to her list of accomplishments. She cherished them and they made her days cheerful.
In addition to her beloved husband Michael, she is survived by her children; daughters; Theresa Vitro and her husband Daniel of Holmes, New York, Elizabeth Fingeret and her husband Eric of Alpharetta, Georgia, son, Michael of Middletown, six grandchildren; Caitlin, Matthew, Emma, Kyle, Ben and Lily, as well as two sisters, Mary Agnes Dorney of Shohola, Pennsylvania and Kathleen Scofield of Newburgh, New York.
She was predeceased by her grandson, Evan Fingeret.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 14 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 A.m. on Friday, February 15 at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, New York.
