Obituary for Ruby E Gray
Ruby E. Gray, 98, of Silver Springs, Maryland passed away at home in Middletown, New York on August 11, 2022.
Ruby was born on September 1, 1923 to Thomas Anthony Gray and Hannah Constance Gray in New York City, New York.
She worked as a civilian in the administrative department for the Navy her entire career life. In addition, she was Trustee, Pianist, Choir Director, and Sunday School Teacher for her church in Washington, DC -- Maranatha Gospel Hall --for 70 years.
Aunt Ruby, as she was affectionately called, enjoyed crocheting, writing beautiful poetry, and had quite a sense of humor. Important to note, though, was her stellar hospitality, love for traveling and her undying love for her Heavenly Father.
Ruby E. Gray was preceded in death by her daughter, Constance Gray; sister, Beryl Austin; brother, Luther Gray; and sister, Nydia Tally. We are blessed and thankful that Aunt Ruby lived to leave a legacy for God's glory.
On Tuesday, August 11, 2022 she was called to her heavenly home leaving behind many loved ones comprised of family
and friends. Aunt Ruby leaves to cherish her memories nieces Junotte Odom of Middletown, NY; Judith Pennyfeather of Westchester, NY; Patricia Alkins of Richmond, VA; her nephews Roland Tally and his wife Nancy of Chicago, IL; Timothy Austin, Sr. and his wife Brenda of Rockland County, NY. In addition, not only has she left grand and great-grand nieces and nephews behind but also her beloved Maranatha Gospel Hall family of 70 years!!!
A visitation will be held at the First Congregational Church on Monday, August 22, 2022 12:00pm to 1:00pm. A funeral service will be held at the church at 1:00PM.
