April 27, 1928-June 1, 2012
Rosenda Veros, a 13 year resident of the area, died on Friday, June 1, 2012 at home in Middletown. She was 84.
The daughter of the late Luis and Anna Cara, she was born on April 27, 1928 in Berja, Spain. She married Cleanthis Veros, who predeceased her. Rosenda was a seamstress who spent many years in the Bronx before moving to the Middletown area to be close to her son and his family. She will be remembered as very generous and always helpful. She was a strong, self-reliant woman who was full of energy. She enjoyed exercising and other activities at Mulberry House in Middletown. She loved church and prayer and was devoted to her family and friends. Rosenda was blessed with many gifts; she was a talented seamstress who could repair or alter any garment and was a successful gardener throughout her life.
She is survived by her loving son, Alex A. Veros and his wife, Laura of Wurtsboro; grandchildren, Christopher, Veronica and Christina as well as two great-grandchildren, Sophia and Jacob; and many relatives and friends both here and in Europe.
In addition to her beloved husband, Rosenda was predeceased by her loving daughter, Elizabeth Veros-Nieves.
Visitation hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Middletown, NY 10940. Burial will follow in the family plot in Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx.
Memorial contributions in Rosenda's name may be made to Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, 2250 Goshen Turnpike, Middletown, NY 10941.
