Obituary for Rosemarie Ferara
Rosemarie Ferara, a lifetime Middletown resident died after a short illness on Easter Sunday at ORMC, she was 81.
She was born one of nine children to Michael and Mary Maurizzio-Giannoccaro on March 23, 1939 in Middletown. She is predeceased by her parents, her brothers Carmen Giannoccaro, Michael Giannoccaro and Joseph Giannoccaro, sisters Mary “Dolly” Miller and Vita “Tootie” Bellows.
With a heart of gold, she was loved by all who knew her. She was always the one to “get it done.” Rose was the heart of the family who always ensured that everyone was together and happy. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it and treated everyone as family. She frequently volunteered at the Paramount Theatre and delivered for Meals on Wheels. You could find her on the sidelines of all her grandchildren’s school and sporting events, often times yelling at game officials. Rose was and always will be their biggest fan. Rose was an avid softball player and coach, who also loved to ski and play golf. She passed her love for these sports to her grandchildren. She would also give you a run for your money when playing horseshoes. She is retired from Mid-Hudson Psychiatric Center where she worked for 30+ years as the Head Cook.
She is survived by her two children, Lenny Ferara (Chrissy) and Patricia Ferara-Roberts (Isaiah) all of Middletown. Her siblings: Thomas Giannoccaro, Pamela Johnson, and Anna Barber. Her cherished grandchildren: Kenneth, Elisha, Jessica, Joseph, Evan and Olivia. Her great-grandchildren: Maison, Violet, Ava, Ella, Landin, and Jackson. As well as many nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held on Thursday April 16th at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home Inc., entombment will follow in Our Lady Queen of Peace Mausoleum in St. Josephs Cemetery, Middletown NY. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of ORMC for their kindness and thoughtfulness during these difficult times.
Since feeding people would have been something Rose would want, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Meals on Wheels. Meals on Wheels: 18 Seward Ave., Middletown NY, 10940. Arrangements have been made under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. www.applebee-mcphillips.com.
